Part Two: “Janusz Korczak: The ‘Old Doctor’ and Pioneer of Children’s Rights”

We invite you to discover the inspiring story of Janusz Korczak, a revered doctor, educator, and advocate for children’s rights, affectionately known as the “Old Doctor” by the orphans under his care. Korczak managed a Jewish orphanage in Warsaw, Poland, protecting his children from the harsh realities of the Warsaw Ghetto during the rise of the Nazis until he was tragically forced to lead them to the Treblinka death camp.

But Korczak’s legacy extends far beyond this heartbreaking moment. Renowned for his progressive and compassionate approach to education, Korczak authored numerous influential books highlighting his innovative ideas about child welfare and rights. His pioneering work laid the foundation for modern humanitarian approaches to treating and educating children with dignity and respect.

Join us as we delve into Janusz Korczak’s life and philosophies, celebrating his remarkable contributions to children’s rights and education. This lecture will offer an in-depth look at his life, impactful writings, and enduring influence on child advocacy.
