Virtual tour of Jewish Norway with BZD

How is Sushi related to Jews? It’s not! But did you know that Norway introduced the salmon Roll to Japan: While Sushi is absolutely a Japanese invention, they did not use salmon in their dish until suggested by a Norwegian delegation in 1981.

Jewish History in Norway dates back to the 19th century. Today, approximately 1,500 Jews still live in Norway. Join the BZD and our tour guide Evgenia Kempinski as we explore the beauty of Norway and speak about this country’s brief yet tragic Jewish history. Our conversation will cover The first Jewish community established in Oslo back in the 19th century; The growth of Jewish life in Norway in the first half of the 20th century; Norwegian Jews during WWII; The miraculous survival of an Oslo Synagogue during the War; The Re-establishment of the Jewish Community and the revival of Jewish life in Norway; And finally modern-day Antisemitism and views towards Israel.

Evgenia will guide us through this journey with beautiful and meaningful photographs that will keep you wanting more.
