With one week left to go, 80,000 American Jews have already voted in the US election to the World Zionist Congress
WASHINGTON – As millions of Americans and Israelis headed to the polls for Super Tuesday and the Knesset election this week, voting still remains open in the U.S. election to the World Zionist Congress, with 80,000 votes counted so far.
Voting for US representatives to the World Zionist Congress, the “parliament of the Jewish people,” continues through March 11, primarily online at ZionistElection.org. A total of 15 slates, comprised of nearly 1,800 candidates, are vying for 152 American seats for the Congress during the election organized and facilitated in the US by the American Zionist Movement (AZM).
Voting has already surpassed the elections of 2015 and 2006. The election has also attracted far more candidates, adding to diversity as well. The pool of candidates shows a 64% increase in the number of candidates who identify as women, and more young candidates than ever, with one third age 35 and under.
“The 2020 U.S. election to the World Zionist Congress has surpassed voting numbers from past years by significant proportions,” said Herbert Block, Executive Director of the American Zionist Movement. “Unlike the other elections this week, American Jews can have a significant influence in Israel and the Diaspora with their vote.”
There are a record number of 15 slates running in the 3030 U.S. election to the World Zionist Congress. View the slates here.
