During each day of Chanukah 2023/5784 the American Zionist Movement highlighted different aspects of Zionism in partnership with Shine A Light. Since the October 7th attacks, we have seen the reality of how Anti-Zionism is a form of antisemitism. What better way to combat hate, than to Shine A Light (pun intended) on the positive attributes of Zionism.
As a way to combat Anti-Zionism, which has become a key manifestation of antisemitism, AZM is highlighting the many diverse organizations in our coalition/constituency. The broad spectrum of their activities and scope shows the many different ways one can express Zionism and how prevalent Zionism is throughout the American Jewish community.

On Chanukah, the Jewish people worldwide, regardless of personal religious practice or political views, unite for eight days in celebrating miracles. As Zionists we know the ancient connection of this holiday to the Temple in Jerusalem and we also celebrate the modern miracle of the creation of the State of Israel.
The Maccabees fought to defend our faith and land. Today we must all be “modern Maccabees” in defending Israel and the Jewish people in communities and on campuses. Through the AZM Zionists of all backgrounds and beliefs come together in support of Israel and Zionism and to combat Anti-Zionism and Antisemitism.
