Israeli victims of Palestinian Terror

STATEMENT OF THE AMERICAN ZIONIST MOVEMENT CALLING FOR THE EXTRADITION OF TERRORIST AHLAM TAMIMI FROM JORDAN TO THE UNITED STATES

Whereas the American Zionist Movement comprises 33 national Jewish Zionist organizations which work across a broad ideological, political and religious spectrum in the United States; and

Whereas the American Zionist Movement is committed to standing together against Antisemitism, hate and intolerance of all forms and expressions; and

Whereas the American Zionist Movement fully rejects the use of terror as a means of diplomacy and believes that those who perpetrate terror should be held fully accountable; and

Whereas on August 9, 2001 a Palestinian-Arab terrorist bombing at the Sbarro pizzeria in downtown Jerusalem murdered 15 civilians, including 7 children, and wounded 130 others; and noting that two of the murdered civilians – 15-year-old Malki Roth and 31-year-old Judith Hayman Greenbaum, who was pregnant, were U.S. citizens; and

Whereas Ahlam Tamimi is the convicted mastermind of this deadly attack and has for many years lived in Jordan, an important ally of the United States which also maintains diplomatic relations with Israel; and

Whereas the Kingdom of Jordan should not be giving safe harbour to a terrorist murderer; and

Whereas despite the FBI including Ahlam Tamimi on its Most Wanted Terrorists List, the Kingdom of Jordan has refused to extradite her to the United States, in direct contravention of its treaty obligations;

Now, therefore the American Zionist Movement, calls upon the Kingdom of Jordan to immediately extradite Ahlam Tamimi to the United States to stand trial for her crimes against humanity and the American victims of this heinous murderous attack, so that the families of the victims of her dastardly attack may see some measure of justice for their murdered and wounded loved ones.
