The 39th World Zionist Congress (WZC), the international “parliament of the Jewish people” was held in Jerusalem in October, 2025. From March 10th to May 4th, 2025, the American Zionist Movement (AZM) administered the election for the US Delegates to the WZC. An all-time record 224,969 valid votes were cast for 22 diverse slates. The 155 delegates elected from the US comprised nearly a third of those elected to the Congress from across the globe. They joined those from Israel and from 40 other countries at the WZC to make decisions regarding the four National Institutions that support Israel and World Jewry. The WZC is the only democratically elected global Jewish forum and is the direct continuation of The First Zionist Congress, convened by Theodor Herzl in 1897. Today, the WZC, which now meets every five years, is the overall policy-making body of the Zionist movement. The delegates and the bodies they form at the WZC determine the leadership and influence the policies of Israel’s National Institutions: the World Zionist Organization (WZO), the Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI), Jewish National Fund-Keren Kayemet LeIsrael (JNF) and Keren Hayesod – which together allocate over $1 billion annually in funding in support of Israel and Jewish communities around the world.
