Under her leadership, FGS has raised many hundreds of millions of dollars, driving growth and impact for numerous nonprofits around the world. Rivkie is known for her innovative approach to Jewish fundraising, breaking barriers and enabling nonprofits to expand and thrive.
Deeply committed to community affairs, Rivkie’s dedication is reflected in years of hands-on service. She has held key positions including as a Fellow in the JCRCNY Community Connections Fellowship Program, and Board roles with the JCC of Rockland County and Rockland Federation where she currently serves on the Community Relations and Allocations Committees. Her civic engagement also extends to her participation in the Superintendent’s Community Circle and the Community Advisory Board of the East Ramapo Central School District. Her swift leadership was recently demonstrated when she mobilized 1,000 community members for a pro-Israel rally on less than 48 hours’ notice.
A sought-after speaker, Rivkie is recognized for her compelling presentations on government and foundation funding. She has contributed her expertise as a panelist at the annual President’s Conference of Torah Umesorah – National Society of Hebrew Day Schools, the USAID/ASHA conference in Washington, D.C., the New York State Senate Roundtable on Antisemitism working group, the Jewish Woman Entrepreneur conference and more. Locally, her tireless work in Rockland County has earned her a commendation award from New York State Senator Bill Weber, a Woman of Leadership and Empowerment award from New York State Senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick, a Woman of Distinction commendation from Representative (now Congressman) Mike Lawler, the Simon Wiesenthal Center Heroes for Tolerance Award, and honors from Israel Bonds, JCC Rockland, American Committee of Shaare Zedek Medical Center, Yeshiva Darchei Noam and Tomche Shabbos of Rockland.
As an Orthodox woman and outspoken advocate for women’s advancement, Rivkie brings a distinctive voice to her activism, challenging stereotypes and building meaningful connections across communities. She is known for her exceptional communication and leadership skills, fostering collaboration and understanding among diverse groups while always seeking common ground with respect and integrity.
Rivkie’s commitment to Jewish life and Israel is personal as well as professional. She is inspired by the legacy of her great-uncle, Chaim Moshe Shapira, a signatory of Israel’s Declaration of Independence and a member of the first Knesset—a figure revered in her family and throughout Israel. Continuing this tradition of activism and unwavering support for Israel is profoundly meaningful to Rivkie, who is proud to carry her family’s legacy forward.
Growing up in America, her annual visits to Israel reinforced her belief in the inseparability of the land, its people, and Judaism. Since October 7th, she has intensified her efforts supporting Israeli families, advocating with elected officials, promoting investment in Israel Bonds to help rebuild devastated communities, and uplifting small and women-owned businesses, consistently demonstrating unwavering commitment to Am Yisrael.
