Zeev Bielski
Zeev Bielski, Chairman Of Executive Of The Jewish Agency And The WZO
Zeev Bielski has been Chairman of the Executive of the Jewish Agency and the World Zionist Organization since 2005. His previous public service includes 16 years as Mayor of the City of Ra'anana, from 1989-2005.
He also served as the Deputy Chairman of the Union of Local Authorities in Israel (1996-1999), National Chairman of the "Al-Sam" (anti-drug) Organization (1994-1996), Chairman of the Absorption Committee, Union of Local Authorities (1989-1993), Head of JAFI Aliyah Department in South Africa (1977-1980), and Founder and President of "The Israeli Forum."
Mr. Bielski currently holds positions on government and public committees including the Council for Cable and Satellite Television, the Israeli Schools Sports Association, the Public Council for the Schneider Children Hospital, the National Committee for Planning and Construction of National Infrastructure, and the Council of the Society for the Protection of Nature.
Awards which Mr. Bielski has received include the "Shalem Fund" Honorary Award, for his commitment and dedication to the development of municipal services for the developmentally disabled. He was also decorated as Knight of Quality Government 2000 from the Movement for the Quality of Government in Israel, for Ra'anana's outstanding management as a Local Authority and its achievements in education, development of green areas, parks and efficient financial management. In addition, he was decorated as Honorary Scout 2000 by the Scouts Movement for his ongoing activities to develop and promote the Scouts Movement in Ra'anana and in Israel.
